3D Printer

Training is REQUIRED before using this tool. You must be certified to use this tool without supervision.

The DIG has two Polyprinter 3D printers that will create 3D objects made of ABS filament (plastic). Work area is 9"x9"x9". Create an object using CAD modeling software and then print it out!

Laser Cutter

Training is REQUIRED before using this tool. You must be certified to use this tool without supervision.

The DIG has a 90-watt Full Spectrum Laser. Work area is 36"x24". Laser cutters can engrave and cut most organic and some inorganic materials.

CNC Carving Machine

Training is REQUIRED before using this tool. You must be certified to use this tool without supervision.

The DIG has a Carvey CNC machine. Work area is 8"x12"x1". The Carvey can cut through many types of materials, similar to the laser cutter.

Vinyl Cutter

Training is REQUIRED before using this tool. You must be certified to use this tool without supervision.

The DIG has a USCutter MH-2 Vinyl Cutter. The vinyl cutter can cut both sticker and heat transfer vinyl to make custom stickers for your laptop, signage, and custom t-shirts among other things.

We also have a heat transfer press and sewing machine to aid in fabric projects.

Power Tools

Training is REQUIRED before using this tool. You must be certified to use this tool without supervision.

The DIG has set of standard power tools, including drills, impact drivers, band saws, circular saws, a jigsaw, miter saw, reciprocating saw, scroll saw, a planer, a router, dremel tools, and a drill press.

All major woodshop tools are locked after-hours for safety reasons. Ask any staff member to unlock tools.

Electronics Workbench

Training is not required but please ask for help if you are new to soldering, etc.

The DIG has a Electronics Workbench stocked with soldering irons, solder, wire, some breadboards and other materials for prototyping circuits. We also have several different types of testing equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and power supplies.

Other Tools & Materials

Training is not required but please ask for help if you are new to using a particular tool or material.

The DIG stocks additional tools and materials including hardware, rope, miscellaneous craft supplies, x-acto knives, hot glue guns, other adhesives, paints, stains, etc.

Programming & Web Development

The DIG is a great place to learn how to code, make apps and develop websites. Whether you are working on a robotics project, an Arduino powered project, or something else, come find expertise and collaboration at the DIG.

If you are interested in how to fill the void of the DIG after you graduate, check out this map of other resources in DFW.

For current students, these spaces can be a great resource for accessing tools we do not have in the DIG.

Also, if you are ready to move from prototyping to manufacturing, you can't use the tools in the DIG,  but you can use these resources!
